The Founding of the BCO
The Burlington Chamber Orchestra was founded by Michael Hopkins in the summer of 2007 with a group of twenty Vermont musicians to advance the arts and culture in the City of Burlington and surrounding communities. Hopkins stepped down as Director in 2010 to accept the position of Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Despite the loss of our Founding Director the Burlington Chamber Orchestra remains a vibrant and important organization in Burlington’s classical music scene. The musicians of the orchestra are talented Vermont performers who also are responsible for the music education of hundreds of students in Burlington and surrounding areas. We are a community orchestra that is also a high quality professional orchestra. Please visit our Press and Media section to hear samples and read the reviews. You can even become a fan of the BCO on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter.
