Jane Kittredge, 27, began playing the violin at age 4.  A native Vermonter, Jane is the youngest of five children and the first to pursue music professionally. Throughout high school, Jane served as soloist and concertmaster of the Vermont Youth Orchestra, as well as the All-State and New England Festival Orchestras.  She enrolled in the Mannes College of Music in September of 2003 studying under Sally Thomas.  In October of 2004, Jane soloed with the BBC Radio Orchestra in England’s Westminster Abbey and has since worked with a variety of reknown violinists, such as Laurie Smukler, Sarah Chang, Mark Steinberg, Kathleen Winkler, Yao Jo Lin, Pamela Frank, and Arnold Steinhardt.

Jane is often seen playing with The Vermont Symphony Orchestra along with the Distinguished Concerts International Symphony Orchestra in New York City. She can also be seen performing with The Lake Placid Sinfonietta, the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, the Westchester Chamber Symphony, the New York Opera Society, the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra, The Handel Society of Dartmouth College, the Opera Company of Middlebury, the Burlington Chamber Orchestra and the Burlington Ensemble. Her orchestra engagements have taken her from Canada to Mexico, New Hampshire to California, and rock’n’roll stage to SONY recording studio. When not playing in the orchestral violin section or in the opera pit, Jane freelances both individually and collaboratively throughout New England.

Jane’s experience, however, is not limited to classical music: most recently, she shared the stage with Sarah McLachlan for a sold-out audience at the Shelburne Museum grounds in Vermont. Additionally, in 2001 she toured briefly with Trey Anastasio of the Phish, and now plays with the alternative indie-rock band, Secret Radio, as well as the New York City-based Beatles’ band, Bubble. Jane received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music in 2007, her Masters’ Degree in 2009, and pursued her Professional Studies Degree with Laurie Smukler and Garrett Fischbach. Her dedication to classical, sacred, and alternative music keeps her performing and traveling in a variety of venues and she never turns down an opportunity to expand her musical horizons.
