Pam Reit grew up in Vermont and was a member of the Vermont Youth Orchestra from 1976-1980 (concertmaster from 1978-80). She received her Bachelor of Music from Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, and her Masters of Music from Rice University in Houston. Pam has been a Suzuki violin teacher for over 20 years, and is the founder and director of Vermont Suzuki Violins, Inc , a non-profit organization committed to nurturing and inspiring young musicians to play, perform and appreciate classical music. Pam has played with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, the Galveston Symphony Orchestra, the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, Maine State Ballet Orchestra, and Green Mountain Chamber Orchestra, among others. Her principal teachers were Evelyn Read, Daniel Heifetz, Edward Shmider, and Ray Fliegel, and she received extensive coaching with Ruben Gonzalez, Ronda Cole and Kato Havas. Pam was a founding member of the Queneska String Quartet. Pam coaches VYOA sectionals at all levels and she teaches twenty private students at home in Hinesburg, where she lives with her husband Ira Morris, their two children, and their two cats.
