2016 Young Composer Competition Winner

Jacob is from Colchester, Vermont native and is a junior at Ithaca College pursing a B.M. in Composition. David is an alumnus of the Vermont Youth Orchestra, whose first piece, “Overture” was premiered by the VYO at the 2012 First Night Burlington Concerts. In 2013, his piece, “Dance Slav” was selected by the VSO to be taken on their Holiday Concert tour. Later that year, his piece,”Charter1, Bar 6” first premiered by the Burlington Ensemble was selected for performance at the NAFME Eastern Division Conference in Hartford, Connecticut. Later that year, he was commissioned to write a piece for the Town of Colchester’s 250th anniversary celebration. His primary teachers are Mia Fritze and Alex Shuhan (Horn), Jean Radice (Organ) and Robert Peterson, Dana Wilson, and Jorge Villavicencio Grossman (Composition).
